NAIDOC Week Celebrations

Throughout weeks 9 and 10 of Term 2 students have been exploring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture in preparation for NAIDOC week from 2^nd to 9^th July. On Friday 23^rd June we held our annual Aboriginal cultural day involving a range of art and craft activities as well as music and dancing with Walangari Karntawarra. We were lucky to have Walangari share some of his languages with us in accordance with the NAIDOC week theme ‘Our Languages Matter'.

During our whole school assembly on Friday 30^th June we looked at the significance of NAIDOC week, viewed a video about Aboriginal languages and sang the Dharawal verse of the National Anthem.
