Getting to and from school safely

As a parent or caregiver, it is your responsibility to get your child to and from school safely. Student safety is our priority.

Please keep our school community safe by:

  • driving and parking safely, even if it means parking further away and walking the rest of the way to school
  • stopping near the first school gate to ensure that no car is left hanging out of the parking bay at the front of the school during arrival or departure
  • If the parking bay at the front of the school is full in the morning or afternoon, please wait safely somewhere until there is adequate space for your vehicle
  • If parking across the road, please wait until it is safe to cross

For parents and caregivers of younger children

Discuss with your child or use appropriate social stories to explain how to be safe when using the following modes of transportation:

Subsidised school travel

The Assisted School Travel Program (ASTP) provides specialised door-to-door transport assistance for eligible students between their permanent residence and school. This service is at no cost to families, where parents and caregivers are unable to provide or arrange full time or part time transportation for their child.

All applications for access to assisted school travel services are assessed in accordance with the program's eligibility criteria, based on the individual travel support needs of students. To find out more and to access an application form, please view the Assisted School Travel Program website.

School Drive Subsidy

The School Drive Subsidy is available to NSW residents in areas where there is no public transport, to drive an eligible student all or part of the way to school. The subsidy is only intended to partly offset the cost of using a private vehicle to drive the eligible student and is not intended to cover all costs. Transport for NSW administers the School Drive Subsidy scheme.

The subsidy is for driving school students to school or to the nearest transport pick up point, by car, motorcycle or boat.

The School Drive Subsidy scheme replaces the previous Private Vehicle Conveyance (PVC) Subsidy scheme which is being phased out from 20 December 2016. For more information please visit the School Drive Subsidy website.
