Human society and its environment

The subjects of History and Geography are mandatory from Kindergarten to Year 10, where students study specific historical and geographical concepts and skills. 

History

At Bates Drive School, History involves students exploring their personal and family history as well as how this compares to others' personal and family history. Students also engage in special events and celebrations related to Australian history, including National Sorry Day and Rebemberance Day.

Geography

Geography involves students identifying and exploring environments such as their home, school and community. High school classes also study a range of international environments and landscapes. Technology and sensory experiences support student learning in this subject as well as community learning excursions to places of significance within the community.
